Special! Saint George's Day (San Jorge) and International Book Day
Every April 23rd, Barcelona transforms into a magical stage where the streets fill with roses, books, and people celebrating love and culture. But the most beautiful thing is that this very local tradition—with its dragon, its knight, and its princess—has been able to open itself up to the world with a universal proposition: the lovely act of giving culture.
And it is because of the coincidence with the deaths of great literary figures like William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes that Sant Jordi is also World Book Day. From Catalunya to Tokyo, passing through Buenos Aires or Paris, millions of people join this silent celebration of ink and paper.
So, if you are in Barcelona, don’t stay in the hotel (even if the breakfast is tempting). Go out into the street, stroll among books and roses, listen to the recommendations of booksellers, let a novel be unexpectedly signed for you, and give something meaningful: a story, a memory, an emotion.
Because there is no more authentic souvenir than a book bought on Sant Jordi. Nor a more romantic gesture than a rose in the middle of an improvised stroll.
